Racked tells all:
If you ever wondered what a
Sex and the City x
Babysitters Club x
The Warriors mash-up would look like, you are about to be enlightened.
The Carrie Diaries—a
Candace Bushnell-penned Sex and the City prequel set in the early '80s—has been picked up by the CW, according to the
Hollywood Reporter, and will soon be coming to a TV near you.

Buschnell's young adult novel has not made it onto our nightstands, but the
Reporter
kindly recapped the basic themes for us: look forward to meeting Carrie
as a senior in high school where "she asks her first questions about
love, sex, friendship and family while navigating the worlds of high
school and Manhattan." There is also a boyfriend named Sebastian Kydd
and a frenemy named "Donna LaDonna."It's worth noting here that the Manhattan of the early '80s was a far cry from the glitzy, cosmo-swilling Manhattan of the
Sex and the City
era. Whatever shenanigans 17-year-old Carrie got up to, she was doing
it against a far grittier backdrop than anything we've seen in a
teen-friendly CW show in the past.
On the other hand, maybe this explains why Carrie never takes the subway.
