When your mentor is Manolo Blahnik, you're probably going to have to get into the shoe game at some point. Rachel Roy
is introducing her first line of collection footwear, and the designer
tells WWD that she was inspired by her former mentor. Like Blahnik,
Roy's shoe collection mixes materials and textures—wool, suede,
snakeskin—and incorporates bright colors with bold prints like animal,
polka dots, gingham, etc. But in terms of pricing, Roy's shoes will be
blessedly more affordable, falling more mid-range than high end: Flats
will retail for between $195 and $250 and pumps will range from $225 to
$325, while booties will cost between $325 and $425 and boots will sell
for $450 to $600. The collection will hit stores in August.· Rachel Roy Debuts First Footwear Line [WWD]
