Alice + Olivia describes 2012 as, "The year of the dinner party," which makes sense, since the brand's fall 2012
Fashion Week presentation was very festive. Waiters passed specialty cocktails and
Magnum ice-cream bars, as attendees admired designer
Stacey Bendet's
Lolita-inspired collection. The beautifully, and of course, festively
dressed models lined three walls of the room—allowing for an easy view
of the collection, (unlike at a certain other
presentation we could mention). All wore their hair in chignons, which somehow made every one of them look like a cross between
Michelle Trachtenberg and
Nicole Kidman.
The clothes were fabulous, and just what you'd expect from Alice +
Olivia—glittery, glamorous, and hip. The collection's "coquette cool"
vibe ran through all the garments, particularly the outerwear and
eveningwear—with the latter category including the launch of the brand's
first gown collection. Fabrics included everything we
love—rich brocades, leathers, embroidery, furs, and metallics. And the
pallet was made up of bold jewel tones mixed in with Stacey's signature
black and white colorblocking. Every look made a statement.
