Lo/Ovral-28 Oral Contraceptives
Recall Date: January 31, 2012
Product: Lo/Ovral®-28 (norgestrel and ethinyl estradiol)Tablets and 14 lots of Norgestrel and Ethinyl Estradiol Tablets (generic)
Company/Brand: Pfizer, Inc.
The Hazard: Pfizer voluntarily recalled
14 lots each of its brand name and generic birth control pills.
According to Pzifer, the issue is "some blister packs may contain an
inexact count of inert or active ingredient tablets and that the tablets
may be out of sequence." While the effected packs don't pose any health
risk,
you may not be adequately protected from unintended pregnancy. If you have
one of the effected lots, return them to the pharmacy, inform your doctor and start using another form of non-hormonal birth control, such as condoms.
Who to call: Consumers can call 1-877-509-3935 for more information about the recall.
